Mourinho praises Youth players in win over Helsinki

Andy Mattioli

Roma boss Jose Mourinho was satisfied with last night’s effort to bring home the three points in a tough away game in Helsinki. The Portuguese technician paid his compliments to Volpato and Faticanti – the former made his first start for the club, whereas the latter made his senior debut on Thursday night.

“Volpato and Faticanti played well tonight. It was also mandatory to win from a moral point of view, for the fans who spent money to get here.”

“I liked the result tonight and our performance in spite of the difficulties we faced for so many minutes of the game. We played and controlled most of the game well enough.”

The Special One also praised Matias Vina’s effort in replacing Roger Ibanez in the defense. The Brazilian centreback was forced to forfeit the match at the last minute due to stomach issues.

“There were some good individual displays. I’m pleased to say that Vina had a great game. He works harder than everyone else and has so much heart. He hasn’t been that happy since he got here, so I’m pleased to say he put in a great performance.”
