Mourinho reacts to frustrating loss with Salzburg

Andy Mattioli

Roma manager Jose Mourinho reacted to tonight’s frustrating defeat at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg.

The Portuguese technician did not criticize the team’s performance despite the result and shared a brief update on the status of Paulo Dybala.

“That’s football,” Mourinho said in his post-match interview with Sky Sport. “I think we dominated the game. We were always in control of a very calm game for us.”

“We missed some very easy chances tonight. And mind you, there is a clear penalty for us in the first half. We were unlucky. Conceding goals in the last minutes is unfair.”

“We’re getting better, but if you don’t put the ball into the back of the net there is always the risk of losing. We know who we are, we know our limits. You won’t hear me say anything bad when the team gives everything on the pitch. That’s the case tonight.”

“Dybala? I really don’t know. At half-time he told he couldn’t play anymore. I don’t know whether it was an injury or simple precaution.”
