Following his unveiling earlier today, Roma manager José Mourinho released his list of call-ups for the club’s preseason training.
The Giallorossi’s preparations for next season, their first under Mourinho, began today with the players undergoing their preseason medical examinations. While the list excluded Roma’s injured players and those currently or recently occupied with international duty, there were still a few notable absences.
Pedro, Javier Pastore, Federico Fazio, Justin Kluivert, Steven Nzonzi, and Davide Santon were all left off Mourinho’s preseason training list — a clear signal that their respective times in Rome are over.
While most are not a huge surprise, Kluivert’s absence comes as a shock given Mourinho’s previous admiration of the former Ajax man. After a decent first season, the Dutch attacker has experienced a turbulent tenure with Roma and spent last season on loan with RB Leipzig.
Pastore, meanwhile, has long been rumored with an exit from the club while whispers of Pedro’s departure grew stronger over the past few days.
