Mourinho responds after receiving praise from Francesco Totti

Ex-Roma captain Francesco Totti and incoming manager José Mourinho exchanged compliments today after the former attacker lauded the club for appointing ‘The Special One’.

The club unveiled Mourinho as their new manager early last month just hours after they announced Paulo Fonseca’s exit.

Totti was asked about the Portuguese technician this afternoon after he was unveiled by the Italian Olympic Committee as an ambassador for the 2026 Winter Games, which will take place in Milan.

“We’ve appointed the strongest manager in the world,” said the 44 year-old. “I would’ve like to have been coached by him when I was younger.”

Not long thereafter, Mourinho took to his official Instagram page to thank the Giallorossi legend for his words.

“Thank you for your words, Francesco. It’s a pity that I’ve arrived four years too late,” he wrote.

“It would’ve been a pleasure to train you.”
