Mourinho speaks before Roma-Napoli kick-off

Roma manager Jose Mourinho

Roma boss Jose Mourinho spoke briefly before the start of his team’s pivotal league showdown this evening against Napoli.

Tensions have been high surrounding the Giallorossi since Thursday evening’s horrific defeat in the Conference League, with both Mourinho and the players coming under fire.

However, the Portuguese technician claims that it’s not only Roma who will have to worry about tonight’s showdown in the Italian capital.

“Napoli have had a great start, they’re having a fantastic season. Perhaps they should have a few less points, but they’re a strong team with a strong manager,” he said to DAZN.

“It’s true that we have to worry, but so does Napoli. We’re going to keep playing our football. Even in matches we’ve lost we’ve continued to play our way.”

“We must respect the quality of the likes of Insigne, Mario Rui, or whoever else they bring off the bench. But they have to worry about us, too. They have enough humility to realise that we’ve got strong players.”
