Roma boss Jose Mourinho made a comment regarding Gianluca Mancini’s performance tonight that seemed directed at another player.

The Portuguese technician was asked about Mancini’s condition as the centreback was seen walking over to the bench on multiple occasions throughout tonight’s match against Udinese which resulted in the Giallorossi 3-1 victory.

In his post-match interview with DAZN, Mourinho took a dig at Chris Smalling who has been reluctant to play through pain, continuing to be out of action after missing the last three months to injury.

“Mancini? He was experiencing physical pain throughout the game and was taking painkillers,” Mourinho said in his post-match reaction. “But that’s Mancini, he is willing to play on one leg, so I told him to stay on.”
