Mourinho to decide Darboe’s future at Roma

Andy Mattioli

Following his debut against Manchester United in Europa League’s semifinal, Ebrima Darboe took all of Rome by surprise with his composure, physicality and passing ability. The 20-year-old ended the 20/21 campaign as one of Fonseca’s regular first team starters, putting in excellent performances against the likes of Inter and Lazio. However, his future at Roma remains unclear.

According to Il Tempo, Darboe has become a concrete objective for Anderlecht. Over recent weeks, the Belgian side made an offer to sign Darboe. Although the Giallorossi are considering the offer, no decision will be made regarding the youngster’s future without Mourinho’s input. The Special One in fact wants to take his time and a decision will be made by July 20th at the latest.

In the meantime, Roma are busy planning the sales of numerous other players. Santon and Javier Pastore are the main priorities: the Italian fullback has not received any offers yet, but has considerable interest in Turkey, Italy and in MLS. The Argentinian, on the other hand, is most likely headed to the US: his agent is scheduled to meet with Pinto at the end of the month.

Finally, Il Tempo reports that Pinto’s main objective in the upcoming weeks will be to considerably lower the team’s salary cap before bringing in new players. Granit Xhaka and Rui Patricio, meanwhile, continue to wait for Roma.
