The tense situation between Jose Mourinho and Serie A official Daniele Chiffi has yet to die down.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, further developments are expected to take place today as Mourinho could present a public apology in order to avoid another suspension.
The apology will not be directed at Chiffi specifically – whom Mourinho called “the worst referee I’ve ever seen” – but to the Italian referee association as a whole.
Roma, on the other hand, will have to pay a considerable fine in order to settle the matter.
However, the Italian newspaper also claims that this may not be enough to convince the Federal Court given Mourinho’s recent confrontation with UEFA and the subsequent four-match ban.
