Jose Mourinho’s main priority this summer remains Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.

Morata has been linked with the Giallorossi ever since Tammy Abraham suffered a long-term injury which ruled him out for the majority of next season.

Morata – along with Gianluca Scamacca – represented the capital club’s first choice to replace Abraham.

However, Atletico’s excessive demands got in the way of Roma’s negotiations with Morata – the club had even struck an agreement with the player’s entourage.

However, according to La Repubblica, Jose Mourinho still wants Morata at all costs – despite Roma being close to a deal for Marcos Leonardo of Santos – and is willing to wait for him until the final days of the transfer window.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, keep asking for €20 million which is the total value of Morata’s release clause.
