After a career-best campaign in 20/21 with 17 goals and 6 assists, Borja Mayoral has seen his playing time steadily decrease under Jose Mourinho.
The Spaniard has fallen in the ranks behind the likes of Tammy Abraham and Eldor Shomurodov. As a result, the 24-year-old is reportedly looking to move away from the Italian capital in January.
The player has drawn interest from several clubs including Fiorentina who are searching for an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic.
However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho is intent on keeping Mayoral at his disposal until the end of the season.
The Special One was very vocal about having three strikers available for the current season and has emphasized his trust in Mayoral numerous times.
It remains to be seen whether the technician’s wish to keep Mayoral until the end of the campaign will materialize.
So far the Spanish striker is not happy with the situation he’s in and wants to prove himself on the pitch.
