Mourinho’s future at Roma dependent on Champions League qualification

Jose Mourinho’s future remains uncertain despite his recent decision to decline the approaches of Portugal and Brazil earlier in December in favor of Roma.

For now, the Special One is fully focused on further improving Roma’s position in the league and competing for the Coppa Italia trophy as well as Europa League.

However, Il Messaggero claims that Mourinho’s decision to stay at the capital club beyond this season is heavily dependent on whether Roma will qualify for the Champions League or not.

Qualifying for next year’s Champions League would indicate improvement and growth in the right direction and would enable the club to attract top talents from Europe as well as dismiss incoming offers for the club’s best players. This, inevitably, would help convince Mourinho to extend his stay in the Italian capital.
