Earlier today, Napoli announced the dismissal of former Roma manager Rudi Garcia just five months after selecting him to replace Luciano Spalletti.
The decision comes after a series of disappointing results that have left the club struggling to defend their title from last season—sporting a record of 6 wins, 3 draws, and 3 defeat in Serie A. The final nail in the coffin came Sunday when the Partenopei fell 1-0 at home against relegation candidates Empoli.
“SSC Napoli has made the decision to relieve first-team coach Rudi Garcia of his duties with immediate effect,” wrote Napoli in a statement on their website.
“The club would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their efforts.”
In his place, Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced on X, formerly Twitter, his decision to bring back Walter Mazzarri, who previously coached the team from 2009 until 2013.
