Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti discusses Insigne’s exit: “He’s like Baggio, Del Piero, and Totti.”

Following Napoli 3-0 win over Genoa, Partenopei boss Luciano Spalletti was asked about outgoing attacker Lorenzo Insigne.

The 30 year-old is leaving his boyhood club this summer on a free transfer in order to move to MLS side Toronto FC.

“It’s clear that with players such as him they sometimes make you angry, but when they’re not available,” the former Roma boss told DAZN.

“Lorenzo is part of that group of players who can can create a solution from out of anything, he’s a magician of a footballer. He’s like Baggio, Del Piero, and Totti.”

“I’ve been regretting Lorenzo’s departure since the club informed me that he’s leaving. Obviously we have to accept his decision and find a replacement with the same quality.”

Adding, “Every manager would want someone like Insigne in their team.”

His comments will likely cause a stir in the Italian capital given his bitter divorce in 2017 with Roma and falling out with Francesco Totti.
