Napoli, Fiorentina, Bologna all drop points prior to Roma’s showdown with Atalanta

RomaPress Staff

Roma find themselves with a huge opportunity to gain ground in top four race on Sunday evening when they host Atalanta in the Italian capital.

Currently occupying fourth in the table, Fiorentina fell 1-0 to Sassuolo on Saturday evening, failing to answer Andrea Pinamonti’s early first half goal. The result came one day after Thiago Motta and Bologna were forced to settle for a 1-1 home draw against Genoa. Meanwhile, Walter Mazzarri’s Napoli side, who sit eighth, were dismantled 3-0 by Torino. The hosts scored twice early in the second half and thoroughly dominated proceedings at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Consequently, the Giallorossi could potentially surpass Atalanta and narrow the distance to La Viola to just -2 points if they succeed in defeating La Dea tonight.
