Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret reflects on Monday’s 1-1 draw to Roma

Napoli shot-stopper Alex Meret admits Stephan El Shaarawy’s injury time equaliser against his side on Monday evening was a bitter pill to swallow.

Il Faraone scored in the 91st minute to secure the Giallorossi a point against Luciano Spalletti’s side, who struggled to contain Roma throughout the second half.

“Monday’s result against Roma? Certainly it hurts to concede like this in the final minutes,” Meret told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“We were one step away from winning. However, we have to accept what happened and moved on. Obviously, though, we’ll have to be more cautious and get back on track right away.”

The Partenopei’s Scudetto dream was dealt a blow following Monday’s result as they now sit four points behind leaders Milan.
