Napoli boss Rino Gattuso has made it clear to the club that his preference to replace the outgoing Jose Callejon is Roma attacker Cengiz Ünder.
The Giallorossi and Partenopei have been engaged in negotiations for the Turkish international for several weeks but have yet to find a definitive agreement.
Roma continues to request €30 million for Ünder while Napoli remains firm at €25 million, which has led to a slowdown in talks.
La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, has reported that Napoli could pursue a different strategy by adding a player into the deal.
One of the names that Roma would, reportedly, like is Serbian central defender Nikola Maksimović. Napoli would also be willing to add €10 million into the operation to try and convince the capital club to part with Ünder.
