Nemanja Matic discusses his time at Roma, Europa League ambitions and more

Veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic discussed at length his impressions from his first year at Roma and the club’s Europa League ambitions.

In an interview with Sky Sport UK, Matic declared, “I’m having so much fun here. I like the club, I’m very happy to be here.”

“We play good football. We are fighting for the Champions League in the league and we are also in the semi-finals of the Europa League so I am looking forward to the end of the season and we will see what happens next.”

“Mourinho? He is a fantastic coach who has won many trophies. He wants to win again, I’m proud to play for him. Sometimes it’s not easy, he’s never happy and he wants you to get better every day, but I like that.”

“Winning Europa League? I think it would be amazing and we will all do our best to achieve this, because we have the best fans in Italy and they deserve it.”

“Smalling? Chris is a fantastic player, very experienced and for me he is one of the most important players in the team.”

“He is doing very well here, everyone loves him and he is a great professional and a great player. He’s a great man off the pitch and I’m very happy to share a dressing room with him again after our time together at Old Trafford.”

“I’m already set on becoming a manager once I retire. But first I want to play two more years. I feel good.”
