Nemanja Matić impressed by Olimpico’s support in 5-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk

Roma midfielder Nemanja Matić sounded impressed with fan attendance in his first outing at the Olimpico in tonight’s 5-0 over Shakhtar Donetsk.

With preseason officially winding to an end, the Serbian midfielder discussed the team’s preparations for the new season as well as their ambitions in a post-match interview with the club.

“I’m really glad to have had the opportunity to play in this great stadium tonight,” said the 34-year-old. “To have had the chance to play in front of our supporters. And I’m really happy we won.”

“We’ve been working very hard over these last few weeks. The whole team is ready for the next game with Salernitana.”

“It will be a difficult game, but we’re a tough team and I think we’re ready.”

“I’m think I’m physically ready. I work very hard each day. The team and I will be ready for any battle and we’ll do our best to make our fans proud.”
