Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic is likely to have his contract automatically extended for a further year after having signed a one-year contract with Roma earlier in the summer as a free agent.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Matic has become a very popular figure at Trigoria, with Primavera players seeking advice from the veteran midfielder, and senior teammates looking up to him.
The Italian newspaper claims that the 34-year-old is always committed to setting an example for others – being the first one to arrive for training every morning – and wants to be part of the club for as long as Mourinho will be here.
Upon reaching 50% of all season appearances, the Serbian’s contract will automatically extend until 2024.
