Out-of-favor midfielder Nemanja Matić is nearing an exit from Manchester United. At 33 years of age, the Serbian player is looking to move abroad after five years at Old Trafford.

According to calciomercato.com, Matić and United board agreed to part ways on good terms and the Serbian’s departure will be facilitated as a result in the upcoming summer window.

Matić’s exit is being handled by an agent very close to Roma, claims the Italian sports outlet. In fact, the player has been recently offered to the capital club as the Giallorossi continue to search for stronger options in the midfield.

General Manager Tiago Pinto is taking his time and consulting with Jose Mourinho, whose good relationship with Matić may further motivate a potential deal between parties.

The former Chelsea midfielder earns a high salary at the moment, perhaps too high for Roma. However, this could be subject to growth decree.

Roma are expected to make further evaluations based on the player’s age, condition and financial demands.
