Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic gave his first interview since his move from Roma to Stade Rennais.
The veteran player completed a surprise transfer to Rennes less than two weeks away from the start of the new season, forcing Roma to promptly secure the return of Leandro Paredes from PSG.
“I immediately felt welcome here,” Matic said in an interview with Stade Rennais. “Everyone accepted me in a very positive way, now I can’t wait to start training.”
“Ever since I received the first call from Rennes, I have felt a positive energy. The project they explained and showed to me is what attracted me to come here. The club is growing and I am happy to be a part of it.”
“In my career I played against some French teams, I played for a long time in England and then I signed for Roma where I stayed for a year. I’m very happy to be able to play here, I can’t wait to start and I’m happy for this new adventure.”
“Physically I feel good, tomorrow I will start training and I hope things will get better and better day after day. The club has many quality players and a great manager. There are also very important fans and I thank them for coming to the airport. They welcomed me very well and I thank them.”
