New arrivals Antonio Candreva, Tonny Vilhena expected to start for Salernitana

Roma kick-off their season later this evening in Salerno where they’ll face Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi at 20.45 CET.

Jose Mourinho is expected to utilise his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation featuring an attacking trio of Paulo Dybala, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Tammy Abraham. On the other side, Salernitana boss Davide Nicola is dealing with several absences, though, he’s expected to field his club’s two latest transfer arrivals.

The team welcomed former Sampdoria man Antonio Candreva and midfielder Tonny Vilhena within the past 72-hours. The pair became the latest of the nearly dozen players to join the club this summer after they avoided relegation last season by a single point.

“I am happy with the arrival of Candreva, he is an important player who brings experience and knows how to integrate quickly in how we play,” Nicola said yesterday during his pre-match press conference.

“He’s got a ton of enthusiasm and proved right away he was eager to come here and join us in Salerno.”

According to La Repubblica, both players are expected to start from the first minute tonight against the Giallorossi even though both have less than three full training sessions under their belts.
