Roma have caught the attention of one of the wealthiest owners in modern day football.
The latest rumors in Italy suggest that there is concrete interest on the part of Newcastle United President Yasir Al-Rumayyan in the possible takeover of the majority of shares of Roma.
The news was initially broke out in Il Sole 24 Ore, with Leggo confirming the story.
Representatives of the Saudi government fund Pif and investors attributable to Saudi Aramco (the government’s hydrocarbons branch) were present in Milan a few days ago. Not only for Milan – who were previously linked with the Saudi world – but also for Roma.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan (55 years old from Burayda), chairman of Newcastle United, is the interested party. He has not submitted an official offer, but simply gave a first expression of interest.
Roma owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, value the club’s majority stake at just over a billion euros considering the huge investments made to rehabilitate the club’s assets left deep in the red by the previous management.
