Newell’s Old Boys sues Roma over unpaid Ponce sum

FIFA has handed down a three-window transfer ban for Argentine side Newell’s Old Boys.

The Rosario-based side published a lengthy response on their website to the transfer ban — and within their communication, they allege that Roma still owes them over €2 million from the sale of Ezequiel Ponce to Spartak Moscow:

Ponce joined the Giallorossi in 2015, however, he never made a senior appearance but had loan spells at Lille, Granada and AEK Athens.

Newell’s are owed 40% of the €8 million fee that saw Ponce join the Russian side — however, they claim they have yet to receive the remaining €2.5 million.
