Roma have been joined by an unexpected rival in the race for German defender Mats Hummels.
Hummels has long been linked with a move to Serie A and more specifically to Roma.
Numerous reports suggested that Hummels’ entourage offered him to the Giallorossi in the aftermath of his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund.
The 35-year-old is reportedly keen on moving to Italy after rejecting offers from Saudi and MLS.
However, it turns out Roma are not the only Italian team in the mix.
As reported by French news portal FootMercato, newly promoted Serie A side Como have joined the race by submitting a proposal the player’s entourage.
According to the portal, Como are offering Hummels a €3 million contract.
Roma remain vigilant but first the club must sell Chris Smalling who would free up space on the team’s salary bill.
