Roma wide man Nicola Zalewski has been faced with limited playing time this season after a series of unconvincing performances.

With less than 200 minutes played so far this season, the former Primavera fullback found himself called up by Poland’s U21 despite having already featured for his senior national team during their most recent international engagements including the World Cup in 2022.

Poland’s new head coach, Michal Probierz, announced Zalewski’s own decision to choose the U21 squad over the senior team.

“We agreed together and he was very open about it, so congratulations to him for wanting to play in the Under 21s, to rebuild himself, to play and earn more minutes.”

“Maybe Roma will appreciate that he made such a decision which will help him rebuild, play more and then come back to the club and be a key player.”
