Roma fullback Nicola Zalewski was awarded with the Golden Boy Web 2022 award as the brightest U21 talent with most fan votes. The Polish international collect 1.2 million votes in a list of nominees that included Barcelona’s Gavi, Real Madrid’s Camavinga and Bayern Munich’s Musiala, among others.
Zalewski spoke about the special occasion in an interview with Sky Sport: “It’s a unique emotion to be here, this is an unforgettable day for me.”
“The second half of last season proved to be special, I worked hard to get here and this year I have to confirm myself.”
“Mourinho is like a second father to me,” Zalewski – whose father passed away a year ago – said of his Roma manager.
“As a team we have to improve. Yesterday the game was decided by an episode and now we must think about the next one.”
