Former Roma player Nicolas Burdisso could return to the capital club as their new sporting director.

The Argentine executive is in fact ready to leave Fiorentina at the end of the season and is being increasingly linked with a job at Roma.

On the other hand, Roma are still looking for someone to take over their sporting director vacancy.

According to Tuttosport, Burdisso is now the preferred option with Francois Modesto of Monza trailing behind.

The club are said to have also thought of appointing their chief scout, Jose Fontes, as the new director of football.

However, for the moment Burdisso seems to be in pole position on request of Daniele De Rossi with whom he shares a close friendship.
