Former Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo went over his recent decision to move to the Premier League from Turkey.
“In the course of my young career I’ve worked with some great managers,” said Zaniolo in an interview with Sky Sport. “All these coaches gave me something different. I worked with Di Francesco, Ranieri, Mancini, Spalletti and Mourinho.”
“They were all very important for my career Di Francesco, for example, was responsible for my debut in the Champions League, Mourinho made me win the first trophy of my career, Ranieri was a great motivator.”
“Monchi? He was the first real sporting director in my career, from youth football he brought me up to first team football. I will always be grateful to him, he was the one who wanted me at Roma, and we all know what I did at Roma.”
Zaniolo also touched upon his victory of the Conference League with Roma in 2022. “When I think back, the journey was a fantastic thing. We set out to win it, but when you set out to win there are a lot of expectations and it’s not always easy to keep them. We had a great journey leading us to Tirana, with the final in Tirana we fulfilled our dream of lifting a trophy. That victory will remain in my heart forever.”
