Roma are reportedly in talks with free agent Nikola Maksimovic as the capital club insist on gifting Jose Mourinho an additional defender for the new campaign.

Maksimovic is among the several options Roma have been evaluating over recent weeks after dismissing the profiles of Jason Denayer and Dan-Axel Zagadou due to fitness issues and salary demands.

In this respect, Maksimovic is the ideal candidate, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Serbian centre-back has already communicated his willingness to lower his wages to join the Giallorossi.

If Roma were to decide to sign the former Napoli man, Maksimovic would go on to earn around €1.4 million on a short-term contract.
