Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic is increasingly being linked with a surprise move to Roma.
After earlier reports came out last week about the Giallorossi’s interest in him, Milenkovic is now being named Roma’s favorite option to replace Chris Smalling.
In fact, Smalling’s return from injury remains unclear: the veteran centreback is suffering from chronic knee pain and is said to be on the radar of several Saudi clubs in January.
As a result, Roma have made contact with Milenkovic and his entourage, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old perfectly embodies Roma’s requirements for the defense and has considerable experience in Serie A.
The only obstacle remains his pricetag of €20 million and salary (around €3 million). However, with Smalling potentially on his way out, Roma could make an extra effort in January to secure Milenkovic’s services.
