Torino defender Nicolas Nkoulou released a letter via the Granata’s official websitea and apologised to the club and the supporters following his outburst weeks ago.
The Frenchman refused to play in Torino’s Europa League clash against Wolves after the club blocked a potential transfer move away. Nkoulou was heavily linked with a potential transfer to the Giallorossi, however, he ultimately ended up staying in Turin, much to his dissatisfaction.
“Today the time has come to definitively close this controversy,” he proclaimed. “Serie A has resumed and all the teams have already returned to the stadiums. In order to be able to do better than last season, we must be united for the same purpose. We must be focused on the same cause. We must be determined for one goal so that the fans are proud of us, writing together a new page in the history of Torino”.
He continued, “I’ve decided to leave the difficult moment of the summer behind me and move forward without hesitation. This season the competition will be tough so I’ve got to bring the brick to help build the house. For this reason, it’s necessary I express my apologies if my behavior has been misinterpreted. I also apologise if I upset the supporters, staff, or my teammates at Torino. I am sorry because this was never my intent. Forza Torino”!
