Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed yesterday that Roma are interested in acquiring attacker Memphis Depay from the French side, however, Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sport reports that the Giallorossi have not submitted an official bid for the Dutchman.
The news that the Giallorossi are interested in the former Manchester United man came as a bit of a surprise given that he has been heavily tipped to move to Barcelona to join former Dutch national team boss Ronald Koeman.
Aulas, though, clarified late yesterday in an interview with LaRoma24 and admitted that “there is interest (on the part of Roma), but not directly” — a rather confusing clarification from the Frenchman given his declarations just a few hours previously.
It remains to be seen if Roma will formulate a concrete offer for Depay.
At the moment there’s no official bid from AS Roma to sign Memphis Depay. Barcelona are leading the race after starting contact with his agents – but not advanced negotiations yet with OL. Koeman is pushing to sign Wijnaldum. It’s up to the club, considering Thiago too. ?? #FCB
