Nzonzi agrees to renounce final year of Roma contract, will join Al Rayyan

RomaPress – Steven Nzonzi will officially leave Roma tomorrow to join Al Rayyan on a permanent deal.

The Frenchman’s father, Fidele, who also serves as his agent, confirmed to RomaPress that he communicated to Roma just moments ago that he is willing to renounce the €2 million payoff amount that he has been requesting since June.

As a result, Nzonzi will terminate the final year remaining on his contract with the Giallorossi and forego receiving any additional wages.

The move will allow the Frenchman to complete his free transfer to the Qatari side and reunite with former France manager Laurent Blanc.

The midfielder’s departure will provide Roma’s wage bill significant relief given that he was one of the club’s highest earners at €3.5 million (net) per season.

Nzonzi departs Roma widely regarded as one of the biggest flops in the club’s recent history, having spent the previous two and a half seasons out on loan.
