Nzonzi in talks with Benfica

Steven Nzonzi, after his loan spell at Rennes, is getting ready to leave Rome once again. This time, Roma are trying to capitalize on the good relations with Tiago Pinto’s former club Benfica. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the player, whose contract runs until the summer of 2022, is currently in talks with the Eagles. The Portuguese side consider the Frenchman a good reinforcement for their midfield. Thus, it is unlikely we will see Nzonzi training with the rest of the team at the start of pre-season.

In the 20/21 campaign, the French midfielder made 39 appearances across all competitions and was one of Rennes’ protagonists in a season that saw them finish sixth and thus qualify for the Conference League.
