Midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who is currently at Rennes on loan from Roma, is pushing to have his contract with the Giallorossi terminated.

The Frenchman joined Roma in the summer of 2018 from Sevilla for €26.7 million plus €4 million in potential bonuses and signed a four-year contract with the club. Almost immediately, though, he encountered difficulties on the pitch and struggled with his performances throughout the campaign.

Despite making a total of 39 appearances under Eusebio Di Francesco and Claudio Ranieri in the 2018/2019 season, the midfielder was sent out on loan to Galatasaray and Rennes for the following campaign after manager Paulo Fonseca deemed him a surplus to requirements.

Nzonzi ultimately rejoined the Ligue 1 outfit on loan in September and according to footmercato.net, he has asked his representatives to open talks with Roma to have his deal with the club terminated.

While Rennes want to keep him at the club and have offered a two-year deal, Arsenal and Everton have also registered their interest in his services.
