One of the main suspects excluded by Mourinho from preseason group training is French midfielder Steven Nzonzi. Following his loan spell at Rennes, the Frenchman is back in the capital awaiting a new destination.

So far, the only approach that was made for him from Portuguese side Benfica was rejected by the 32-year-old.

However, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, Nzonzi has received a new offer from abroad. This time the offer comes from Qatar, more specifically Al-Rayyan. Their manager, Laurent Blanc, is a big fan of Nzonzi and instructed the Qatari side to open talks with Roma.

In order for the deal to go through Roma will have to reduce the pricetag on Nzonzi, whose contract is set to expire next year.

Nzonzi’s eventual sale would help reduce the team’s exceeding wage bill, with the French international making over €3 million annually.
