Nzonzi to remain at Rennes for 2020/2021 campaign

RomaPress – On-loan midfielder Steven Nzonzi is set to remain in France for at least one additional season.

Yesterday is was announced that no football would be played in France until August as the remainder of the 2019/2020 campaign was cancelled for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

It was also revealed that the current table would be used to assign a league champion, European places, as well as promotion and relegation.

As a result, PSG have been crowned champions while Marseille and Rennes have qualified for next season’s edition of the Champions League. Due to their qualification, a clause in Nzonzi’s contract has been triggered, which automatically extends his loan at the club for an additional season.

The Frenchman joined the Ligue 1 outfit in January after terminating his loan with Galatasaray.

Nzonzi had a falling out with manager Fatih Terim and was banished from the team in early December, which signaled the end of his tenure with the Turkish club.
