Roma have completed the sale of Guinean midfielder Amadou Diawara to Belgian club Anderlecht.
After three years with Giallorossi, Diawara is joining Anderlecht on a three-year contract. According to earlier reports the capital club will earn around €3 million including add-ons and will retain a 50% sell-on clause for his future sale.
Anderlecht’s official website quoted Diawara’s first words as a new member of the club, “I am convinced that this choice for RSC Anderlecht is the ideal step in my career. I learned a lot in the Italian Serie A, but it was time for a new challenge. I am very happy to be part of a team where I can share my experience and I am keen to prove myself.”
Diawara joined Roma in the summer 2019 in a swap deal with Napoli that included Greek defender Kostas Manolas going the other way. The midfielder’s time at the capital club was plagued by injuries, which limited his impact on the midfield with former boss Paulo Fonseca.
