Roma have announced that central defender Roger Ibañez has inked a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.
The announcement comes just two weeks after the Brazilian’s agent, Frederico Moraes, and Roma met and reached an agreement on a new deal.
“This contract extension really means a lot to me, I’ve worked hard to try and show that I deserve to represent this club,” Ibañez said to Roma’s official website.
“I am aware that I need to keep on improving but there is one thing I know for sure: I will give everything I have to Roma, for the foreseeable future.”
The Giallorossi were eager for Ibañez to put pen to paper on a new contract following his bright start at the club. His new contract will see him earn a large wage increase from €750,000 to €1.7 million (net) per season.
“Roger is one of a number of young and talented players that the club wants to build around, both now and for the future,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s General Director.
“Since arriving in Rome he has been improving on a consistent basis. We are confident he still has a lot more room to grow.”
“We are also delighted to be continuing the proud tradition of Brazilian players at Roma, who have historically enjoyed great success at the club.”
