One of the few bright spots of Roma’s 2018/2019 campaign – Nicolo Zaniolo has officially renewed his contract with the Giallorossi. Roma’s starlet put pen to paper on a new contract that will run until 2024 and will significantly increase his wages after a breakout season. Here is the full announcement from the club:
AS Roma are delighted to confirm that midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has signed a new long-term contract with the club. Zaniolo, 20, has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the Giallorossi that runs until 30 June 2024. The Italy international joined the club last summer, going on to make 36 appearances in his first season for the Giallorossi – scoring six goals.
“A year ago it was an easy decision to choose Roma, and today it is even easier – after a season that helped me fall in love with this team and this city,” said Zaniolo. “I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to tie myself even closer to these colours – it is exactly what I wanted.”
Zaniolo’s performances last season saw him lauded as one of the most promising talents in European football.
“This decision underlines the conviction, shared by both the player and the club, that Roma is where Nicolo can realise the vast potential that so excited the fans last season,” club chief executive Guido Fienga said. “We are certain that he will play a huge role for this team in the future.”
