Official: Robin Olsen joins Roma

Roma have officially announced the acquisition of Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen from Copenhagen. The player arrives after having spent the last 2.5 years at the Danish side. Here is the full announcement from the club:

AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Robin Olsen from Danish side FC Copenhagen. Olsen joins for an initial fee of €8.5 million. The deal also includes a number of performance-related clauses, on the part of both the player and the buying club, that could be worth an additional €3.5 million. As part of the deal, Copenhagen retain the right to 10% of any profit should Olsen be sold in the future – factoring in the initial fee and any bonuses that have been paid upto that point. The 28-year-old has signed a five-year contract that runs until 30 June 2023.

“I’m feeling happy, I’m very excited,” Olsen said.”It’s a big honour to come to AS Roma. It’s the next step for me and I cannot wait to get started.”

“Robin is a goalkeeper with international experience, and I think he can bring that level to Roma with him,” sporting director Monchi said. “I am confident he can build on the quality that has seen him firmly establish himself as Sweden’s No. 1.”
