Gianluca Petrachi is nearing an exit from Roma.
The Giallorossi announced today through an official communication that the 51 year-old sporting director has been suspended by the club.
“AS Roma announces that Gianluca Petrachi has been suspended from his duties as Sporting Director of Roma with immediate effect. The manager and team will be led directly by Guido Fienga, CEO of the club,” read the statement.
The move comes less than a week after Petrachi sent a scathing text message via WhatsApp to club president James Pallotta, who failed to mention Petrachi in an interview last week praising Roma boss Paulo Fonseca.
The Giallorossi believe they have just-cause to sack Petrachi from his position and could potentially avoid paying the remaining two years left on his deal.
