UEFA has officially postponed this summer’s Euro 2020 until the summer of 2021 to allow European leagues more time to complete their seasons amid the Coronavirus pandemic that has hampered the continent.

UEFA announced the decision just one day after a teleconference was held with all 55 member associations to gather input on the best solution moving forward.

Nearly all leagues throughout Europe have been forced to halt play due to the catastrophic outbreak of the Coronavirus, including Serie A.

Euro 2020 was slated to commence on 12 June — however, once it became clear that domestic leagues would need at least until July to complete their league calendar, postponing the Euros to next summer became the only viable solution.
