Olsen discusses decision to join Aston Villa from Roma

Robin Olsen joins Aston Villa

Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen detailed his emotions after completing his loan switch today to Aston Villa.

The Swedish international left the Italian capital last summer to begin his third consecutive loan spell, but this time at Sheffield United.

However, less than five months since joining the Championship side, the veteran has left the club in order to move to Steven Gerrard’s son.

“I’m really, really happy,” he told Villa’s official website.

“It’s been a couple of days of waiting to come here, so when I woke up this morning and I knew I was signing for the club I was really happy.”

He continued, “It was easy (the decision to join Villa). When I heard about it from my agent for the first time, I decided to do whatever I could to change clubs and sign for Villa.”

“It was an easy choice from the first call I had from my agent.”

The Birmingham-based side become Olsen’s fourth different club since 2019. His previous loan stints included stops at Cagliari in 2019/2020 before joining Everton the following season.
