RomaPress – The future of Gianluca Petrachi at Roma remains very uncertain following a fallout last week between he and club president James Pallotta.
The former Torino director took issue with an interview the Bostonian gave last Thursday to the club’s official website, in which he mentioned Roma manager Paulo Fonseca’s strong working relationship with the Giallorossi management team, including Guido Fienga and Manolo Zubiria, but he failed to mention Petrachi by name.
The 51 year-old sporting director took issue with Pallotta’s failure to mention him in the interview and he took it as a slight — even going so far as sending the American a strongly worded text message.
The final word Petrachi’s future now sits with Pallotta, who is still mulling what to do.
Petrachi has two years remaining on his deal and earns €1.2 million plus bonuses per season — a substantial figure.
In initial talks with the club, Petrachi made it clear he would not renounce any portion of the remaining money left on his contract, making a potential “goodbye” very expensive on Roma’s part.
