Paolo Di Canio takes back early Mourinho criticism

Former Lazio striker Paolo Di Canio

Former Lazio attacker Paolo Di Canio infamously criticized Mourinho and Roma’s management for appointing him as the club’s coach in the summer of 2021.

Now, Di Canio has taken back some of the criticism in a recent interview with Tuttosport where he previewed Roma’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign.

“José is building an instant team in typical Mourinho fashion,” he told the Italian newspaper.

“Now, he’s become fully invested and if he gets off to a good start I believe he can make something happen in the league as well.”

“Sure, the teams from Milan are ahead of everyone else. But, in Italy, unlike in England with Manchester City and Liverpool, there is no clear favorite for the league title.”
