Paredes lauds Daniele De Rossi after Roma oust Milan

Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes hailed the work of manager Daniele De Rossi after his side ousted Milan and advanced into the Europa League semi-finals.

The Giallorossi’s renaissance under De Rossi continued on Thursday after they defeated the Rossoneri for the second time in a row, winning the tie 3-1 on aggregate. They’ll now face newly crowned German champions Bayer Leverkusen on 2 May and 9 May with a chance to advance to their third consecutive European final in as many seasons.

“Tonight showed we don’t lack in belief or confidence. Even when we were down to 10 men we stuck to our game,” the Argentinean told RAI Sport.

“My transformation under De Rossi? I always try to do my best and contribute to the team—I think tonight was a good example of that. But I think Daniele’s playing style is perfect for me and it shows on the pitch. I’m quite happy.”

He added, “The fact I took his shirt number? My wish is I’m able to reach even 50% of what he [De Rossi] was.”
