Former Roma and Juventus defender, Medhi Benatia, looked set to return to Italy and join Parma, which would have been his fourth Serie A side.
Sky Sport, however, reports that the Moroccan international’s parent club, Al Duhail, are reluctant to allow him to depart this month. Because of the issues in the negotiations for the defender, the Emilian side have turned their attention to Roma central defender, Federico Fazio.
The Argentine has made a total of five appearances this term, all of which came in the Europa League, and seen a massive reduction in his role at Roma following the arrivals of Chris Smalling, Marash Kumbulla, Gianluca Mancini, and Roger Ibañez.
The Giallorossi and Parma are engaged in negotiations and the sense is that an agreement could be found soon.
