Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez was thrilled with his side’s crucial victory over Ajax in the first leg of their Europa League showdown.

The Spaniard was undeniably the Man of the Match for the Giallorossi thanks to a number of key saves, which included a penalty save early in the second half on Dušan Tadić.

Despite the great result, the former Real Betis man warned his side not to get ahead of themselves.

“In my opinion, we managed to do what we wanted, however, we could have avoided the goal we conceded,” he said to Sky Sport.

“However, this isn’t over. It’s going to be very tough when we face them at the Olimpico. Tonight was a great result, but there’s still plenty of football to be played.”

“The penalty save? I knew that Tadić often likes to kick it down the middle. Luckily, I stayed in place and managed to save it. I’m very happy with what we managed to do this evening.”
